Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

The Band
-What does "Swingaraiders" mean? The word "Swingaraiders" is made up of the words "Swing" (like the music) and "to raid".
-Do the Swingaraiders also play with a reduced number of players?Since we are a big band we only play with a full complement. Normally, at a performance we are about 18 to 22 musicians.
-How many musicians does the band have?Being a classical formation, the big band consists of 22 musicians. We are supported by two technicians who set the equipment up and operate the console.

The repertoire
-Do you only play Glenn Miller and the classics of that time? No, our programme is very varied. It contains the classics of the twenties as well as modern retro-swing or funk. You can have a look at it under "Repertoire".
-When is your next performance?See, "Dates" for our next performances. You can also order our newsletter, which will be sent to you automatically per e-mail approximately every two months.
-Where can I download demo-mp3s ?Unfortunately we cannot present demo material in the internet because of the latest GEMA regulations. On request we will be happy to send you detailed information material.

Requirements
-Does the big band need an amplification system? This genereally depends on the size and the specific properties of the place of performance. Outdoors, PA- equipment is necessary in most cases. If you are not sure, ask us.
-Does the organizer have to provide an amplification system? We are happy to use the amplification system of the organizer if it corresponds to our standards. On request we will send you a technical rider with our requirements per e-mail.
-How big does the stage have to be for the big band? The stage should be 5 meters deep and 7 meters wide. In certain cases exceptions can be agreed upon.

Further questions
-What is the GEMA?It is the German abbreviation for "Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte" (society for musical performance rights and mechanical reproduction rights). At every public performance it charges fees which the organizer has to pay. (www.gema.de)
-What information material do you have?On request we are happy to send you information brochures and high definition pictures.
-How much does the band cost? The price depends on the distance to the place of performance, the length of the performance and in certain cases additional costs for the amplification system. For longer performances we will be happy to agree upon a lump sum.
-How far would the band travel for a performance? The distance is not relevant, but for long journeys the costs will be added to the price.
